Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for funding or rebates to help with the cost of psychological assessment and therapy. Some funding options require a referral or specific eligibility criteria. These may include:

  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funding
    • Connecting Kids is currently not a registered provider of the NDIS, but does accept self-managed and plan-managed participants.
  • Better Access to Mental Health Care Plan (Medicare), which may provide up to 10 Medicare rebates for eligible psychological treatment in a calendar year. Please contact your GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist to discuss a referral.
    • Medicare rebate amounts vary depending on the practitioner's Medicare eligibility and endorsement status. Please contact us if you have any queries about this.
  • Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder Treatment (Medicare) where eligibility requirements are met. Children and young people under 25 years of age who have a diagnosed complex neurodevelopmental disorder or eligible disability may be eligible for Medicare rebates for psychology treatment. A referral and treatment plan from a paediatrician or psychiatrist are required. Eligible individuals may access up to 20 Medicare-subsidised allied health treatment sessions over their lifetime. Please contact Medicare or your referring medical practitioner to confirm eligibility and current rebate arrangements.
  • Chronic Disease Management Plans (Medicare), where applicable. A GP must assess eligibility and include psychology as part of the individual's ongoing care plan. Eligible patients may access Medicare rebates for up to five individual allied health services per calendar year, including psychology. A referral from a GP is required. Please speak with your GP to determine whether this funding option is appropriate
  • Private Health Insurance depending on your level of cover. A referral is generally not required for this, however we recommend checking the specific requirements of your health fund before commencing services.
